PURPOSE: A safety device for an escalator is provided to guarantee the safety of passengers using an escalator by installing safety bars in front of escalator passengers. CONSTITUTION: A safety device for an escalator comprises a moving track(100), multiple safety bar supporters(200), and multiple safety bars(300). The moving track is formed in the outside of an escalator handrail along the handrail. The safety bar supporters circulate an entrance and an exit of an escalator within the moving track at a speed same as the handrail. One end of the safety bars is supported by the safety bar supporters. One end of the safety bars is coupled to the safety bar supporters so that the safety bars can be vertically rotated on one end of the safety bars.
