<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve S/N ratio characteristics of read data. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus prints a test pattern on a paper sheet, reads the test pattern on the paper sheet by using a color line image sensor 70 constituted by a plurality of line sensor chips C1-C26, and carries out a calibration in printing on the basis of read data of the read test pattern. The image forming apparatus selects a line sensor chip, corresponding to an area where the test pattern is printed, from among the plurality of line sensor chips C1-C26 to read the test pattern. When the area where the test pattern is printed is changed within one sheet of paper, a line sensor chip for reading in response to the change is selected and switched. The amount of light from a light source provided on each of the line sensor chips C1-C26 is controlled on the basis of a kind of the test pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
