PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide software and an apparatus that can monitor devices mounted in a rack and allow an administrator to easily know details.

SOLUTION: The inventive software monitors plural devices 41-46 stored and mounted in a rack 20. A camera (or a camera box) 50 and several optical fiberscopes 51 (whose number corresponds to the number of devices to be monitored) are used to obtain an image of LEDs 52 provided on the devices 41-46. The image is displayed on a laptop PC or the like. The LED display on the screen of the laptop PC is used to input management information based on a color of the image and management information based on blinking. Optical fiber cables or cameras may be used instead of the optical fiberscopes.
