The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for managing wireless data network access by a wireless communication terminal. One illustrative method according to the present invention involves primarily detecting a wireless signal from one or more access points of a wireless data network and storing the strength of the detected signal, and secondarily detecting a wireless signal from one or more access points of the wireless data network and determining to which ranges of numerical values corresponding to "in movement" and "in stoppage", respectively, the numerical values corresponding to the differences between each strength of the secondarily detected signal and each stored strength of the primarily detected signal belong. If the numerical value is determined to belong to the range of the numerical value for "in movement", a wireless data network non-access state is not switched to an access state or is indicated as being in an inaccessible state, and the numerical value is determined to belong to the range of the numerical value for "in stoppage", the wireless data network non-access state is switched to an access state or is indicated as being in an accessible state. |
