A receiver apparatus comprises: a plurality of reception antennas that can receive transmitted data wirelessly transmitted on a frame-by-frame basis and having the preamble in the front end; a switch unit that selectively switches between connections to respective ones of the plurality of reception antennas; a preamble detecting unit that detects the preamble of the transmitted data outputted via the reception antenna connected by the switch unit; and a control unit that performs, on the basis of a detection result of the preamble detecting unit, a control to determine whether to cause the preamble detecting unit to be in a sleep state and that also performs a control to select one of the plurality of reception antennas.
