Disclosed are a method, optical network device, and system for acquiring the association relationship between PON ports in the field of communications. An OLT having a standby PON port located therein receives a protection packet sent by an optical network unit; parses the protection packet to obtain the identifier of a host PON port carried in the packet; and acquires the association relationship between the host and the standby PON ports according to the received identifier of the standby PON port carried in the protection packet. By implementing the present invention, the OLT having the standby PON port located therein can acquire the association relationship between the host and the standby PON ports, can confirm whether the protection packet is authorized according to the association relationship or acquire the configuration information of the host PON port according to the association relationship, and can avoid the defect that a standby optical link cannot be formed in the case of an optical fiber connection fault.
