<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for selecting and outputting at least one of a plurality of images, when an instruction to output one file including the plurality of images is made. <P>SOLUTION: When an instruction to output a file including a plurality of images is made, it is determined whether setting related to an output of a file having a plurality of image formats has been made. When outputting an image as a file having a plurality of image formats (Yes in S1204), it is determined whether to output an image by selecting a monochromatic image or a high-resolution image from among the images included in the file designated to be output (S1301). If selecting and outputting a monochromatic image, the monochromatic image is selected from among the plurality of interrelated images (S1306).
