<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of easily forming an internal reflection type mirror on a light-assisted magnetic head. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the light-assisted magnetic head comprises: an assembling step for forming, as an integral structure: a substrate having one face, and an end face provided at one end in a predetermined direction of the one face; a light source that includes a bottom face fixed to the one face, and a light emission plane erecting from one end of the bottom face; and a waveguide that includes a waveguide incidence plane provided on the end face of the substrate and facing the light source side, and that guides light entering from the waveguide incidence plane, along the end face in the direction of the end face opposite to the one face side; and a reflection face forming step for filling a space between the light emission plane and the waveguide incidence plane with a liquid optical material such that the liquid optical material comes into contact with both the light emission plane and the waveguide incidence plane, and reflects the light that enters from the light emission plane in the liquid optical material, towards the waveguide incidence plane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
