Disclosed are a system and method for acquiring a pathway to provide a user with a pathway having more referential value. The method comprises: a terminal device sending a pathway request message to a server, the pathway request message comprising location information and time information; and the server acquiring corresponding pathway information according to the location information and the time information, and returning the pathway information back to the terminal device. The system comprises: a server and a terminal device. Calculating a pathway by means of reference time information enables provision of excellent pathway information to a terminal device based on real-time pathway conditions at the time or historical pathway conditions at the time.
