<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in vitro prognosis diagnosis method for a patient having a primary, non-infectious disease. <P>SOLUTION: The in vitro prognosis diagnosis method comprises: determining the level of procalcitonin or fragments thereof of at least 12 amino acids in length, effectively more than 50 amino acids in length, more effectively more than 110 amino acids in length, in a sample obtained from a patient; and correlating the level of procalcitonin or fragments to a risk of the patient to contract a further disease or a medical condition which has not yet been manifested and/or is not yet symptomatic. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
