<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diagnose a failure of a thermostat for performing open/closed-circuit control of a plurality of circuits each including a heat-exchange means on the downstream side of the thermostat. <P>SOLUTION: When diagnosing a failure of a thermostat 106 for selectively performing flow distribution control of cooling water discharged from an internal combustion engine 100 to a plurality of circuits on the downstream side, failures of open/closed-circuits corresponding to the plurality of circuits in the thermostat 106 are diagnosed based on the comparison result between the temperature of the cooling water when the opening/closing path for each of the plurality of circuits at the merging point where the branched cooling water merges fails and the temperature of the cooling water after the merging. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
