<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply droplets to a to-be-coated article in desired amounts to improve the quality of the coated article. <P>SOLUTION: The droplet applicator 1 includes a stage 2 holding the target article W, an inkjet-type application head 4 having a row of nozzles with two or more nozzles aligned, a moving device 3 moving the application head 4 and the stage 2 relatively in the first direction intersecting the row of nozzles along the to-be-coated surface Wa of the target article W, a pattern setting section 8b setting an application pattern including information indicating droplet application positions on the target surface Wa and a controller 8a controlling the moving device 3 and the application head 4 based on the application pattern so as to apply droplets to the target surface Wa of the target article W on the stage 2.
