PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of detecting intrusion of a foreign matter into an angle of view to be imaged.

SOLUTION: A contrast detection part 31 detects the contrast value of the detection area of the first image taken by an imaging part 12 while a light-emitting part 13 does not emit light. A light-emission processing part 32 causes the light-emitting part to emit light when a contrast value detected by the contrast detection part is smaller than a threshold. A luminance change detector 33 detects the amountS of change in the luminance value of the detection area of the first image and the luminance value of the detection area of a second image taken by the imaging part 12 while the light-emitting part 13 emits light. When the amount of change in the detected luminance value is larger than a threshold, the luminance change detector 33 determines detection of a foreign matter in the image taken by the imaging part 12.
