<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system capable of increasing the operation ratio in all night operation of a dual coupling image forming system when a trouble such as toner runout occurs on one image forming apparatus during continuous image forming by switching to continuous image forming by an alive image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a problem occurs on a toner image forming section 101A when performing double-side printing on a first image forming apparatus 101 and a second image forming apparatus 102, a control unit 202 switches the operation mode to double-side printing by the second image forming apparatus 102 only using a rear face printing conveyance path 34. After stopping the toner image forming, the toner image forming section 101A operates under a condition of toner image forming on white background.
