A region of interest identification device which, on the basis of an audio signal included in an image file, identifies a region in the image file of interest to a user, which is a region that is presumed to be of interest to the user. This identification device is equipped with: a region of interest candidate extraction means (1801) that extracts a region of interest candidate, which is a candidate region of interest in the image file; a fine structure determination means (1802) that determines whether a fine structure is included in the region of interest candidate; and a region of interest identification means (1803) that identifies a region of interest when the fine structure determination means determines that the fine structure is included, by analyzing a specific region which includes the fine structure and is shorter than the region of interest candidate.
