<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform time adjustment in an information processing apparatus more accurately than before. <P>SOLUTION: The information processing apparatus includes setting means, acquisition means, first update means, and second update means. The setting means sets a time managed by a hardware clock on a system clock at a time of activation of an operating system. The acquisition means acquires a time managed by an external time generation apparatus with a smaller error than the hardware clock at a time of activation of an application program having a function for updating time. The first update means updates the time managed by the hardware clock to the time acquired by the acquisition means.
