<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasket material having increased resistance against monomer and other high-reactive compounds, and having rigidity, easy processing and relatively economical PTFE. <P>SOLUTION: The gasket material comprises polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a thermoplastic polymer having a melting point lower than one of the PTFE. Preferred thermoplastic polymers comprise fluorinated thermoplastic polymers, and the most preferred fluorinated thermoplastic polymers comprise fluorinated ethylene propylene and perfluoroalkoxy copolymer. A PTFE component preferably comprises full density PTFE, and a filler material may optionally be added. The PTFE component is present in the gasket material in an amount from approximately 50% to less than 100%, based on the total weight of the gasket material, and the thermoplastic polymer is present in an amount from greater than 0% to smaller than or equal to approximately 20%, based on the total weight of the gasket material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
