SOLID LIGHT SOURCE LIGHTING DEVICE AND LIGHTING APPARATUS USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid light source lighting device capable of ensuring the resolution of burst lighting control in a high luminance region and suppressing generation of flicker in a low luminance region, by appropriately controlling a switching frequency.

SOLUTION: A solid light source lighting device of the present invention includes: a DC power circuit section 1 that runs an electric current through a solid light source 3 by implementing power conversion for an input DC power supply Vdc using a switching element Q1; first switching control means 2a that turns on and off the switching element Q1 at a high frequency; and second switching control means 2b that intermittently stops turn-on and -off operation of the switching element Q1 at a lower frequency than for the first switching control means 2a. The solid light source lighting device changes a frequency of the second switching control means 2b when an electric current running through the solid light source 3 is changed.
