<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a natural error image at high speed on the basis of error data. <P>SOLUTION: A point group on a curved surface parameter space of free-form surface data corresponding to a measurement point column is calculated as a first point group. Error data between the measurement points of the measurement point column and design points on the free-form surface data corresponding to the measurement points is calculated. Triangulation of the first point group is performed to generate a first triangle and a convex hull of the first point group is calculated. A second point group distributed in the calculated convex hull is set on the curved surface parameter space. Error data on the points of the second point group is calculated by an interpolation calculation from error data corresponding to the first point group which is apexes of the first triangle in which the corresponding points are included. The triangulation is performed again to a point group obtained by adding the second point group to the first point group to generate a second triangle.
