This heater control device is equipped with: a model temperature calculation unit that calculates the model temperature in the vicinity of an oxygen concentration sensor; a heat quantity totaling unit that calculates the cumulative heat quantity by totaling the quantity of heat passing through the installation position of the oxygen concentration sensor; an energization specification unit that begins the energization of the heater when the cumulative heat quantity reaches a specific energization initiation threshold value; a reset unit that resets the cumulative heat quantity and the energization initiation threshold value when the internal combustion engine stops or starts, but does not reset the cumulative heat quantity and the energization initiation threshold value when the internal combustion engine is stopped automatically by means of idle stop control, or is restarted; and a correction unit that corrects the cumulative heat quantity or the energization initiation threshold value by taking into account the influence of heat dissipation while the internal combustion engine is automatically stopped by means of idle stop control.</p>
