<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the temperature rise in the area of a heating body where a recording material of narrow width does not pass, when the recording material of narrow width is continuously conveyed by taking a central conveyance reference or a one-sided conveyance reference. <P>SOLUTION: A control means 60 judges whether or not a recording material width detecting means 72 detects the wide-width recording material P2 or the narrow-width recording material P1. In such the case that the recording material is not detected, it is judged by the control means 60 on the basis of a temporal change in temperature difference detected by a first temperature detecting means 51 and a second temperature detecting means 52 whether the wide-width recording material is conveyed by taking the central conveyance reference where the conveyance reference position is coincident with the center of the recording material in the width direction or the narrow-width recording material is conveyed by taking the one-sided conveyance reference where the center of the recording material in the width direction is put to one side of the recording material in the width direction related to the conveying reference position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
