PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by selectively applying an over driving method according to an analyzed result of a display image. CONSTITUTION: An image modulation unit(10) outputs image data inputted to a current frame when the image data inputted to the current frame is same as image data inputted to a previous frame. The image modulation unit outputs a modulated image data for driving an overdrive when the image inputted to the current frame is different to the image data inputted to the previous frame. A compression unit(14) divides the inputted image data into a plurality of block data. The compression unit converts a plurality of pixel data into bit-map. A frame memory(16) outputs the converted bit-map by delaying a first frame. A first restoration unit(18) generates previous restoration data. A second restoration unit(20) generates current restoration data. A look-up table(24) outputs the image data inputted to the current frame or the modulated image data.
