A postal package 10 for live plants 14 comprises a tray with a plug containment area 22 for holding plugs 16 of live plants; a stem passageway area 24; and a foliage containment area 28, all located between upper and lower faces 32, 30 of the package. The plug containment area comprises a support surface to support a side wall of a plug such that the live plants are supported on their side within the package. In a first embodiment the plug containment area also comprises plug raising means (not pictured) in order to support a base surface of a plug in a raised position from the lower face of the postal package relative to the upper surface of a plug. In a second embodiment each plug has a central longitudinal axis 66 extending through a central point on the base surface and a central point on the upper surface and the plug containment area is arranged to support the plug with the central longitudinal axis parallel with the lower face. Also claimed are assemblies comprising the packages along with plant plugs, and methods of packing live plants in the packages. |
