PURPOSE: A lane recognition device and a method thereof are provided to effectively recognize lanes by connecting maximum strength value points extracted from each histogram. CONSTITUTION: A lane recognition method comprises the following steps: obtaining road image captured from a driving vehicle(s110); extracting a region of interest(ROI) from the image(s120); scanning a plurality of line images which comprise the ROI(s140); manufacturing a histogram based on brightness intensity(s150); extracting the maximum strength value spot of the histogram state by each line images(s160); and recognizing the lane of the road by connecting the maximum strength value spots by Hough transform(s180).
