[Class 29] Liquid or semi - liquid substances such as resinous compounds, glue and phenol-formaldehyde condensation products are solidified in films on an endless conveyer band 1, the material being fed on to the band through an adjustable gap between a pair of water-cooled rollers 6. The band is cooled on its underside by water spray produced by air blown through perforated pipes 20 submerged in water in a trough 17 below the upper stretch of the band, and the upper surface of the band is cooled by an air blast from a fan 33 directed through a duct 30. The apparatus is preferably mounted on a wheeled frame 3 so as to be movable to and from the place of production of the material, and the air duct may have a return bend 34 to direct the air out of the feeding chamber. The band passes over drums 2, 2a the former being driven from a motor 5, and is supported by a series of crossbars 21 secured to the air pipes. The air duct above the band may have inclined baffles 32, Fig. 3, to separate it from the water space, and is removably bolted at 31 to the water tank. The solidified material is removed by breaking-off or by a scraper 36 at the discharge end, and the drum 2a may be provided with a cleaning scraper 25. The water is admitted to and withdrawn from the interiors of the feed rollers by concentric axial ducts. Rubber squeegees 27 are provided to remove water from the underside of the conveyer band.
