PURPOSE: A Sanguibacter keddieii NC9 with an ability of decomposing alginic acid is provided to be used in various industries such as foods, cosmetic products, pharmaceutical products, and bioenergy production. CONSTITUTION: A Sanguibacter keddieii NC9(KCTC 11916BP) has an ability of decomposing alginic acid. A biocatalyst with an ability of decomposing alginic acid contains the strain, a culture medium thereof, or a concentrate of the culture medium. A method for preparing the biocatalyst comprises a step of culturing the strain in a culture medium containing peptone and alginic acid. A method for preparing the alginic acid oligomer comprises a step of reacting the biocatalyst with marine algae or alginic acid.
