PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a test pattern image for correcting a color shift when applied to an image forming method using toner so controlled as to maintain a color developing or non-color-developing state upon provision with color development information by light; a color shift correction method; and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A pattern image 200 is composed of: a first pattern 202 comprising the first image portion 206 of "a first color" and a non-image portion 208; and a second pattern 204 comprising the second image portion 210 of "a second color" and the background image portion 212 of "a third color". In exposure for providing color development information in the case of shift detection, in accordance with both the first image portion 206 and the non-image portion 208, color development information is provided so that an area 402 corresponding to the first pattern 202 entirely develops "the first color".
