<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp excellent in starting characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp: includes an inner tube 1 having a light-emitting section 11 with a first space 15 therein and a seal section 12 formed on the light-emitting section 12, a discharge medium including a first gas enclosed in the first space 15, a metal foil 31 sealed with the seal section 12, an electrode 32 connected with the metal foil 31 at one end and lead to the first space 15 at the other end, and an outer tube 5 connected with the inner tube 1 so as to form a second space 51 between the outer tube 5 and the inner tube 1; and is lighted up while a tube axis is approximately horizontal. A second gas is enclosed in the second space 51, and at least one location in a gap between the maximum outer diameter section of the light-emitting section 11 and an inner section of the outer tube 5 approaching the maximum outer diameter section is 0.55 mm or more. Further it is desirable that the space D (mm) between an upper side of the light-emitting section 11 and the outer tube 5 satisfies a relationship of D≥0.55 by making the inner tube 1 offset downward against the outer tube 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
