PURPOSE: A torque control method for a wind power generator is provided to cushion impacts due to the changes in torque by controlling the reference value of RPM even when the RPM of the power generator is below the reference value. CONSTITUTION: A torque control method for a wind power generator comprises following steps. Rated torque is controlled while the trajectory of a control range is followed according to the RPM of the wind power generator and enters the control range for the rated power generation. Whether or not the RPM is below a rated control maintenance speed is determined. The current RPM is measured, and constant-velocity torque is controlled by setting a new reference value. The constant-velocity torque is controlled while the reference is changed into the maximum reference value when the constant-velocity torque is above maximum reference value.
