PURPOSE: An authentication method of a non-volatile memory device and a device thereof are provided to allow a host device to perform authentication based on authentication information obtained from the non-volatile memory device, thereby not using an error check/correction means. CONSTITUTION: An interface unit communicates with a non-volatile memory device(220). An authentication verifying module(110) transmits challenge information to the non-volatile memory device through the interface unit. The authentication verifying module receives authentication information for the challenge information. The authentication verifying module performs the authentication of the non-volatile memory device by using the authentication information. The authentication information is generated by using the challenge information and private key information stored in the non-volatile memory device.
