PASSIVE GREASE TRAP WITH PRE-STAGE FOR SEPARATING SOLIDS FROM WASTE WATER

Disclosed is a grease trap (10) for separating solids that are heavier than water and F.O.G. (fats, oils and grease) waste from waste water. The grease trap has a container (14) having a bottom and an inlet to receive waste water substantially above the bottom and an outlet (18) substantially above the bottom. Solids in the waste water that are heavier than water have residence time in the container long enough to gravitationally separate towards the bottom as waste water at least partially depleted of solids that are heavier than water discharge from the container through the outlet. A tank (12) having a downwardly sloped bottom (13) has an inlet (20) connected to the outlet (22) of another container for receiving incoming waste water at least partially depleted of solids.
