The aryloxy- and heteroaryloxy-substituted tetrahydrobenzazepine derivative compounds of the present invention are represented by formulae (I) (A-E) having the following structure where the carbon atom designated * is in the R or S configuration and the substituents X and R-Rare as defined herein. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the compound and a method of treating a disorder which is created by or is dependent upon decreased availability of norepinephrine, dopamine or serotonin using said compounds.
