Use of a monoclonal antibody or an antigen-binding fragment thereof specific for human Fas ligand protein (FasL), wherein said monoclonal antibody comprises at least one heavy chain variable region and at least one light chain variable region, wherein the amino acid sequences of the complementary determining region (CDRs) of the heavy chain are: (a1) CDR H1: EYPMH or a sequence that has at least 70% sequence identity; (b1) CDR H2: MIYTDTGPSYAEEFKG or a sequence that has at least 70% sequence identity; (c1) CDR H3: FYWDYFDY or a sequence that has at least 70% sequence; and the amino acid sequences of the complementary determining regions (CDRs) of the light chain are: (a2) CDR L1: RASQDISNYLN or a sequence that has at least 70% sequence identity; (b2) CDR L2: YTSRLHS or a sequence that has at least 70% sequence identity; (c2) CDR L3: QQGSTLPWT or a sequence that has at least 70% sequence identity; for the manufacture of a medicament for the prevention and/or treatment of a skin disease associated with keratinocyte acantholysis Further disclosed is the use of the monoclonal antibody produced by the hybridoma cell under Accession No. BP-5535 or an antibody or a functional antibody fragment derived therefrom, for the manufacture of a medicament for the prevention and/or treatment of a skin disease associated with keratinocyte acantholysis.
