Disclosed is a disinfecting formulation comprising, by volume: (a) from about 65 percent to about 75 percent alcohol (for example ethanol, methanol, isopropanol); (b) from about 10 per cent to about 25 per cent of one or more essential oils comprising cineole (for example eucalyptus, tea tree, bay leaf, spearmint and rosemary oils); (c) from about 0.5 per cent to about 5 per cent of a gelling agent (for example petroleum wax); (d) from about 1 percent to about 4 percent of one or more emollient agents (for example glycerine); and (e) water. Also disclosed is a method for making the disinfecting formulation.
