NETWORK-CONTROLLED E-UTRAN NEIGHBOUR CELL MEASUREMENTS

A method in a radio base station of a telecommunication network for configuring a user equipment to perform one or more downlink measurements on at least one neighbour cell within a coverage area including one or more neighbour cells is disclosed. The cells operate with the same or different transmission bandwidth. Also disclosed is the radio base station of a mobile telecommunication network, comprising means for performing the method. The method for configuring a user equipment to perform one or more downlink measurements on at least one neighbour cell within a coverage area including one or more neighbour cells comprises signalling a common measurement bandwidth over which the user equipment shall perform the neighbour cell measurements. This method further comprises instructing the user equipment how to report a result of the measurements. A method in a user equipment for performing downlink measurements on one or more cells according to a received measurement configuration is disclosed. The method for performing downlink measurements on one or more cells according to a received measurement configuration comprises the steps of receiving measurement configuration information from a radio base station; acquiring information on a common measurement bandwidth from the serving cell over which the measurement is to be performed; performing measurements of the neighbour cells over the common measurement bandwidth; and reporting the measurements to the network. Also disclosed is the user equipment in a mobile telecommunication network comprising means for performing the method.
