<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing apparatus and a manufacturing method of an edge-wise coil for preventing interference by a bent portion of a rectangular wire with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing apparatus 1 of the edge-wise coil includes: a feeding mechanism 3 for feeding the rectangular wire; a core metal 6 fixed to an upper face of a pedestal 13; a revolution roller 7 revolving around the core metal 6 and bending the rectangular wire; a gripper 8 which can grip the rectangular wire with an abutting section 6c of the core metal 6 from both sides; a gripper moving mechanism 51 which reciprocally moves the gripper 8; and an inclined plate 9 including a first slant 9a guiding a portion bent along a patterning face 6e of the core section 6a of the core metal 6 in the rectangular wire to a diagonally upper side. The revolution roller 7 includes a first top plate 11 covering a full width of an upper face of a part sandwiched between a side abutting section b7 and the core section 6a in the rectangular wire.
