<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in height of a roll body carrying device while promoting flattening of a floor of a plant. <P>SOLUTION: A roll body carrying device 100 includes: a placement base 10 on which a roll body is placed; a traveling wheel group 16 making the roll body carrying device 100 travel along traveling rails 102; a traversing wheel group 22 making the roll body carrying device 100 travel along traversing rails; a wheel lifting means lifting the traversing wheel group 22 from the floor when the roll carrying device 100 travels along the travelling rails; and a placement base positioning means varying a distance between the placement base 10 and the floor, in delivery and receipt of the roll body.
