The invention relates to a process for preparing dialkyl-/alkylaryl-polyethylene glycols to be used as coordination agents in chemical synthesis. According to the invention, the process consists in esterifying a &bgr;-alkyloxy- (&bgr;-alkyl polyethylene-oxy) or &bgr;-alkylphenyl polyethylene-oxy-propionic acid, respectively, with an alcohol- and/or alkylphenol-type compound of the formula R(R'')-OH at a temperature of 100...160°C under acid catalysis, for 2...4 h, to result in a product of the general formula R(R'')-O-(CHCH-O)-CHCH-CO-O-(R'')R where R and R'' are an alkyl group with 8...20 carbon atoms with linear or branched chain or a mononuclear alkyl/alkylaryl group with 8...12 carbon atoms, respectively, and n is the degree of oligomerization having values in the range 0...18. |
