The range extender comprises an internal combustion engine (1). The internal combustion engine is driven by a generator (2), which generates electric current. A distance of a bearing (ML) of a crankshaft axis is in a range of 20 to 50 centimeter. A distance of another bearing (SL) of in the direction of the crankshaft axis is greater by a factor than a spacing of the former bearing of the crankshaft axis and the factor is in a range of 3 to 5. A central longitudinal axis (32) of the former bearing forms an angle to a vertical direction of the internal combustion engine. An independent claim is included for a vehicle with an electric motor.
