The nozzle has a deflecting plate comprising a curved channel, and a water outlet opening completely closed in a nonpressurized condition, where the nozzle injects fire fighting water at a beam angle against delivered flow such that relative velocity between the flow and the water is increased. A sensor e.g. coil or transformer, is arranged at a socket for detecting operating stroke of the nozzle, where the nozzle is arranged at the socket in a resting position. The detected operating stroke is electronically evaluated for obtaining information about operating condition of the nozzle.
