Disclosed are a device and method for reducing wind noise for a mobile terminal. The device includes: a wind noise signal collection module for collecting an external wind noise signal and converting same into an electrical signal for output to a wind noise signal detection module and to a wind noise signal processing module; the wind noise signal detection module is used for detecting the wind noise signal outputted by the wind noise signal collection module and triggering the wind noise signal processing module when it is determined that wind noise reduction processing is required; the wind noise signal processing module is used for filtering the wind noise signal outputted by the wind noise signal collection module, and performing signal amplification and phase conversion processing before outputting same to the mobile terminal receiver. The present invention improves, on the one hand, the voice quality at the receiver side for one individual, enabling same clearly to hear the voice of the other party and, on the other hand, improves the voice quality at the receiver side for the other party, enabling same clearly to hear the voice of the other individual, thus improving the communication results for users particularly in windy conditions.
