A control unit (20) adjusts parameter of the cooking zone depending on the detected orientation and/or position change of the pot and the pan. The cookware detecting unit detects an absolute orientation, an absolute position and/or sizes of the pot and the pan on the hob. A projection device (22) displays direction for changing the orientation and/or position of the pot and the pan on the hob to a user. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hob. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Operation device for operating a hob e.g. induction hob and electric hotplate, to adjust heating output, cooking zone size and cooking time of a cooking product (claimed) in a cookware in a kitchen workstation.
