摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sucked object detecting method in a suction nozzle which can determined whether a sucked object in the suction nozzle of a component fitting head is a component or a foreign matter and to provide a component fitting device. <P>SOLUTION: The sucked object is determined to be the component or the foreign matter other than the component depending on an imaging area of a side image of the sucked object and a minimum projected area and a maximum projected area of the component in which the side image is obtained. When the imaging area of the sucked object is smaller than the minimum projected area or larger than the maximum projected area of the component to which a prescribed margin depending on a suction posture of the component in the suction nozzle is added, for example, the sucked object can be detected to be not the component (steps 6 and 8). When the imaging area of the sucked object is an area between the minimum projected area and the maximum projected area of the component to which the prescribed margin is added, the sucked object can be detected to be the component (steps 6 and 7).
