<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sufficient restored image corresponding to an individual difference of an optical instrument while increases of processing time and a holding data amount are suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: In an image processing method, a common image restoration filter is prepared for a plurality of optical instruments 21 to 23 different in optical characteristics, and correction information different at every optical instrument is prepared in accordance with a difference of the optical characteristics. In the method, an image restoration processing is performed by using the image restoration filter on the input image generated by imaging using a specified optical instrument among the plurality of optical instruments so as to generate a first restored image. A first image restoration component equivalent to a difference between the input image and the first restored image is obtained. The first image restoration component is corrected by using correction information corresponding to the specified optical instrument so as to generate a second image restoration component.
