<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for an internal combustion engine that strikes a balance between reduction in friction loss at a low load and improvement of anti-galling properties at a high load. <P>SOLUTION: The piston for the internal combustion engine includes a skirt 6 extending downward from an outer periphery of a piston top 3.
