<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for forming a barb or barbs on a suture. <P>SOLUTION: A system for forming one or more barbs 14 on a suture 10 of a certain length includes: a suture nest for regulating a longitudinal pathway configured to receive the suture of the certain length, the suture nest including at least a single recess 15 formed along the longitudinal pathway, and at least a single opening corresponding to at least the single recess; and a punch device including at least a single punch member corresponding to at least the single opening in the suture nest.
