<p>The present invention provides an instant messaging system and method for sharing user information. The system comprises multiple clients and a messaging server. The clients are connected to the messaging server. The system further comprises a global server, a control server, and query servers. The clients are connected to the query servers and the global server respectively through the messaging server, the messaging server is connected to the global server through the query servers, and the query servers are connected to the control server. The clients transmit user information to the global server through the messaging server, the user information is stored in the global server, and the global server synchronizes the user information to the query servers. When the number of query tasks received by the query servers from the clients exceeds a threshold, the control server allocates the query tasks exceeding the threshold according to a task processing priority and a task receiving policy of the query servers.
