<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent roll paper from being clogged without causing waste of the roll paper while avoiding the generation of a curl at the tip of the roll paper. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 100 comprises: a pressing roller 107 and a transfer belt 108 which transfer the roll paper having a plurality of labels R partitioned by a perforated line Wa with intervals to a prescribed transfer direction while contacting with the surface of the roll paper; a recording head 102 which is positioned downstream of the pressing roller and the transfer belt with respect to the transfer direction, and records an image on the roll paper which is transferred by the pressing roller and the transfer belt; and a control means which stops the perforated line of the roll paper at a position apart from a contact position at which the pressing roller and the transfer belt contact with the roll part by a prescribed distance or longer.
