The invention relates to a method for processing and using signals from sensors having a periodic characteristic and to the corresponding device. The method consists in deducing variations ??a in the input signal Ea of a sensor having a periodic characteristic using the following operations: breaking down ??a into a fraction part ?Eaf and an integer part ?Eae; superimposing an auxiliary signal E1 of frequency f1 on the signal Ea to be measured; performing synchronous double demodulation at frequencies f1 and 2f1, followed by filtering of the signal S delivered by the sensor; measuring and converting the two signals S1 and S2 into digital values S1n and S2n; performing a calibration operation by means of which it is possible to record the different digital values S1nc and S2nc; during the measurement phase, comparing the values S1n and S2n with values S1nc and S2nc pre-recorded during the calibration phase; deducing the integer value ?Eae of the signal ??a to be measured; and deducing the variations in the signal ??a using the equation ?Ea=?Eaf+?Eae.
