NANOPARTICLE DISPERSIONS IN POLYMER MATRICES

The present invention regards nanoparticle dispersions in polymer matrices, which can be used in consolidation and protection materials, in particular for the preservation and restoration of cultural heritage material. In particular, the present invention regards a synthetic resin solution containing a nanoparticle dispersion of high refractive index inorganic oxides, in particular titanium dioxide, and the application thereof on a substrate, in particular polychrome cultural heritage material, to form a consolidation and/or protection transparent film. The layer thus formed has a UV filtering property in the near visible range and allows modulating the refractive index, the roughness and the surface tension of the protection layer.
